Description
This is a vintage, mid century embossed Gunther beer bottle embossed, The George Gunther Jr. Brg Co. - Baltimore MD, encircling a letter "G". The rim of the bottle is embossed, "contents 12 fl oz.- Registered". My father, an avid bottle digger, found the bottle more than 40 years ago in the ruins of an old southern plantation home. The bottle is in perfect condition, free from breaks or cracks. Clarity is very nice. I don't see any sediment deposit. The embossing remains crisp and clear. I have not found another bottle like this one to pinpoint age, but believe it to be prior to mid century, it could be earlier, from the per-Prohibition era. Regardless, its a nice bottle for the antique beer bottle collector or the Baltimore bottle collector. The vintage beer bottle measures about 9.75" tall and 2.75" wide. The George Gunther, Jr. Brewing Company was founded in 1900 in Baltimore, MD. By 1959 it was the second largest brewery in Baltimore. Hamm's Brewing bought the company, then passed on to the F&M Schaefer Brewing Company in 1963. The Baltimore brewery closed in 1978.
Please note: This is an EMPTY bottle sold as a collectible. No alcohol is included.
