Description
EXTREMELY RARE!!! 1932 1933 Walt Disney Studio Christmas Card Mickey Mouse Silly SymphonyThis is the third
Walt Disney
Studio-issued mailer card on textured paper. As folded, front of card has inked address to Chicago, Illinois with a 1
½
”
cent stamp. Also as folded, the back of the card has a small
sticker of
Mickey Mouse with Christmas tree. Card interior has a
separate lithograph illustration
with scene of a horse-drawn carriage containing Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Horace and Clarabelle. Top tab has Christmas tree design, bottom flap has imprint reading "Walt Disney And Mickey Mouse Present Their Silly Symphony Seasons Greetings." Card shows small trace of wear/aging mostly along the original fold lines with a few
small
tears.
The early culture of Mickey and his friends was more raucous, more rural, and more ridiculous than it would be later when the characters settled into their familiar archetypes. This 1932 card artwork reflects the childlike playfulness and absurdity of the “black-and-white era” Mickey Mouse.
