The rabbit sculpture is made from heavy gage wire that has been bent, twisted, and spot welded together to form the shape of North American  rabbit indigenous or native to NA. The sculpture is the kind of rabbit with big ears and a cotton tail that we have been accustomed to know and love as rabbits are the subject of nursery rhymes, coloring books, and a host of other home furnishing pieces like figurines made from porcelain, wood, and metal like the sculpture in this listing. The rest of the sculpture is hand-wrapped and threaded in and around the heavy gage wire skeletal framing giving the rabbit not only form and shape but dimension too giving the rabbit a three dimensional look to it perfect for display.
This wonderful piece of folk art is done by an artisan with many years of experience, skill, and talent as the woven wire can only be accomplished by an artisan and not a machine. This wire wrap technique has been handed down for generations from family to family. The wire she/he used to create this rabbit sculpture is called powder coated black wire and it resembles anodized steel and the powder coating is fired onto the wire so that it won't rust or corrode resisting humidity indoors and resisting rust from rain when placed outdoors making this versatile piece a welcome addition to a shelf unit, built-in wall unit, on a table. atop a mantle on a fireplace, or the focal point of a flower garden and the perfect decoy in your vegetable garden to ward off other rabbits that feed off vegetables like lettuce and carrots in your garden.
