Absolutely stunning vintage piece by JONATHAN KENDALL (AMERICAN 1939-2004)! This carving measures approximately 7x40”. It is dated 1989 and was created in Santa Fe New Mexico. When doing research seller has seen artist’s name spelled both Johnathan and Jonathan so unsure which is correct. Photo 6 shows an area where wood has chipped off but seller doesn’t feel this detracts from piece. There is some splitting to wood also in some areas but seller doesn’t feel this effects the beauty of piece. Please see photos for details and thank you for your interest!
Kendall is well-known for the wooden icons he created including the church doors at Wellfleet Preservation Hall, Wellfleet, Massachusetts.
