Description
This is a very rare folk art hand carved wood totem made in the 1950s by an Air Force mechanic at Hamilton Air Force Base. Featured are four standing figures. The top figure is a pilot wearing flight goggles and underneath him most likely is the crew chief. They are standing on a coffee cup. The two men on the bottom are mechanics with some tools in their pockets standing on a beer bottle. The carving is extremely detailed and highly accomplished. It stands 10.5 inches tall. Other than a couple of missing tiny tools in the pockets, the totem is in very good condition. It was carved by artist, Carolyn Bell who was an Air Force mechanic at Hamilton Air Force Base in the 1950s. This totem was purchased from her estate and is one of a kind.
