    Description

Mark McCloud is an art expert with a Master's degree in fine arts from U.C. Davis, and
recipient of two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts; he is also the undisputed originator of blotter art collecting; through epic dedication he created awareness of, and brought legitimacy to an American contribution to world art.
A "Quick" Lesson in Print Quality
This is the highest quality print
Giclée not offset press which is inferior except for far faster speed and much lower cost.
Giclée is a higher quality print than offset and often far more fade resistant. Offset is very good but Giclée is what Alex Grey and Mouse uses. My printer in the highest resolution takes eight minutes for one print (plus loading time which is significant), offset presses typical run speed is measured in thousands of copies per hour, so offset is 500 times faster but anyone who claims
    offset

is the highest quality print” probably knows better. Same goes for anyone who claims there is only “one proper way to make blotter art” If you ever get the privilege to ask Mark McCloud (the Godfather of blotter art) he’ll tell you not about the “one proper way” but of the evolution of the art form and where it is going! The irony is: time is money and expenses must be minimized, but slow progress and the highest quality/cost ingredients produce the best results.
The term “digital print” is passé as modern offset presses are “digital direct to press” or simply “it’s all digital printing” because it saves the time, equipment, expense and space requirements of making and storing printing plates! Pause and ask yourself if you think I’m educating you and/or being deceptive, and please do some independent research- this is an advertisement for my product so de facto I have a vested interest, but the truth is out there and I’m claiming it is on my side.
    End of “quick” lesson
