Great Vintage Folk Art Weathervane piece.  Built to replicate the famous aircraft flown by Manfred von Richthofen, known as the "Red Baron" in 1918, and also of later "Snoopy" & the Red Baron" fame to the American audience.  The original aircraft was built by Fokker-Flugzeuwerke in 1917 and used in service thereafter until more modern planes replaced it shortly.  This a hand crafted triplane which took a lot of work.  Its pretty solid, despite the moss (lichen) on wings and plane.  It is also fairly light at a little under 2 lbs, so can be hung or mounted with ease.
Has the perfect compliment of aged patina and nice craftsmanship.  You are getting it exactly as we did, except we added the wheels & propeller, well because, we just had to.  The propeller & wheels move freely.  Based on the amount of paint loss and lichen, this was likely kept outside for many years as a weathervane.  The dowel rod appears to be made of hard fiberglass, like an old arrow shaft or other, but it works well and fits into a hole in the bottom center of the plane.  Really no way to know for sure how old this is, as it was from a collector's estate, but almost nothing in his collection was post 1960 and most items were much older.  Best guess is 1940's-1960's, but could vary either way a few years.
We photographed from all angles and in different lighting.  We photoed off of the dowel rod but it fits well into the piece and seems pretty balanced.  This could be used as a weathervane again, as a hanging display or put on a base for shelf display or other.  We are including the mount rod which would allow for a very easy base mounting of you choose.  We are pricing well under some inferior ones that have sold, hope you love it!
