Antique White-Tailed Deer
Wooden Canoe Cup
Folk Art
A canoe cup is a woodman's water dipper, also
known as a belt cup because most include a toggled
or clip for carrying it on a belt during portages. This well
defined carved canoe cup is made from oak burl wood
and decorated with a life-like relief carved and painted
profile of a white-tailed buck along one half of the cup.
The other half is incised with wavy grooves. It
has a fringed rawhide strap and metal belt clip.
Circa 1940.
6 7/8" tall x 2 5/8" wide x 2" deep.
