DESCRIPTION:
"WINGLEEWAI". Discovered on the Virginia Eastern Shore, this is a SCARCE crown top beer bottle, liquor bottle, wine bottle or soda bottle with "WINGLEEWAI" and Chinese characters embossed on side of bottle. Olive green glass. Measures 9" high. Base not embossed. Pickup on underside is plain. There is a ring molded around
the neck -- so was this an Asian wine or champagne bottle? I guess it is conceivable that this bottle originated in Hawaii, but your guess is as good as my own -- I was unable to find another example anywhere on the internet. Most of the bottles on the shore floated-in from the Atlantic Ocean, so this bottle may be able to tell some stories?  Other products may have been described with the name WING LEE WAI -- but all came in pottery or stoneware containers. A great addition to your Chinese bottle collection!
