Description
This is a vintage 1915-1920 amber brown stout or malt beer bottle with a unique goose neck. The antique beer bottle is embossed on the bottom with an I inside of a diamond, the mark for the Illinois Glass Company. Illinois Glass used this mark between 1915 and 1929 but beer was not sold during prohibition (1920 thru 1933) which narrows the date range. The mark has the number 3 beneath, likely indicating a mold number or plant. I cannot find another bottle like this, so assume it must be rare. It is machine made as the side seam goes to the top of the cork top bottle. (Cork is missing.) My father, an avid bottle digger, found this bottle more than 40 years ago in the ruins of an old homestead in Virginia. Its in beautiful condition, free from breaks or cracks. Clarity and color are nice for a dug bottle. It measures about 9.75" x 3.5" at the waste. Please note this is an EMPTY bottle sold for collectible purposes.
